NICC Peosta Campus Graduation Aug. 15
Posted 12 August 2008
Northeast Iowa Community College's Peosta campus will hold its summer commencement ceremony on Friday, Aug. 15, at a new location - Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School in Dubuque.

Approximately 110 students will earn degrees, diplomas or certificates this August, and 75 graduates will participate in the ceremony. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. NICC Trustee Daniel White will present the welcome address.

The featured keynote speaker will be Susan M. Hess, an attorney with the law firm Hammer, Simon & Jensen, Attorneys-at-Law, in East Dubuque, Ill. Hess received her juris doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2005. The Dubuque resident is a 2002 Loras College graduate, a 2001 graduate of NICC's Associate in Arts-Legal Assistant/Paralegal program and currently serves as secretary for the Dubuque County Young Lawyers Association.

Addressing her fellow graduates will be student keynote speaker Rachel Neenan, who will be graduating with an NICC associate in arts degree. The 2008 graduate is transferring to Iowa State University next fall. Neenan's academic plans include earning a baccalaureate degree in elementary education to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. At NICC, Neenan was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and is the daughter of Dan and Natalie Neenan of Peosta.
