NICC Peosta Campus Graduation Aug. 15

Northeast Iowa Community College's
Peosta campus will hold its summer commencement ceremony on Friday,
Aug. 15, at a new location - Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School in
Dubuque.
Approximately 110 students will earn degrees, diplomas or certificates
this August, and 75 graduates will participate in the ceremony. The
event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. NICC Trustee
Daniel White will present the welcome address.
The featured keynote speaker will be Susan M. Hess, an attorney with
the law firm Hammer, Simon & Jensen, Attorneys-at-Law, in East
Dubuque, Ill. Hess received her juris doctorate from the University of
Iowa College of Law in 2005. The Dubuque resident is a 2002 Loras
College graduate, a 2001 graduate of NICC's Associate in Arts-Legal
Assistant/Paralegal program and currently serves as secretary for the
Dubuque County Young Lawyers Association.
Addressing her fellow graduates will be student keynote speaker Rachel
Neenan, who will be graduating with an NICC associate in arts degree.
The 2008 graduate is transferring to Iowa State University next fall.
Neenan's academic plans include earning a baccalaureate degree in
elementary education to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. At
NICC, Neenan was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and is the
daughter of Dan and Natalie Neenan of Peosta.
