Veterans Honored at Gold Star Military Museum
Posted 12 August 2008
Rep. Steve Lukan (R-New
Vienna) has released information regarding Iowa’s Gold Star Military
Museum.
The Gold Star Museum, located at Camp Dodge in Johnston, was built to
honor and recognize Iowa’s veterans. The museum does not
distinguish between rank, race, branch of service, gender or time of
service.
The purpose of the museum is to collect, preserve and exhibit materials
which illustrate the story of Iowa’s military past from statehood to
the present. The Iowa Gold Star Museum honors the heroic service
of all Iowa veterans.
Rep. Lukan is encouraging families who are looking to take one last
summer trip to visit the museum.
“Visiting the Gold Star Museum is a special way to honor Iowa’s heroes
as well as help educate our children about Iowa history,” said Rep.
Lukan.
The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
and admission is free.
