Volunteers Needed to Clear Trails at Backbone Park
Posted 4 August 2008
A clean-up day will be held this
Saturday, Aug. 9, at Backbone State Park to assist park officials in
clearing the park's equestrian trails. A local volunteer group is
spearheading the effort and asking for help from the public for the
project.
Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. across from the Richmond Springs
area on the north end of the park. Since the DNR doesn't have enough
manpower to clean the entire park, this group is taking charge. Lots of
trees are down in the area, so please bring any chainsaws, ATVs or
other equipment you have. The DNR will supply equipment like tractors.
A potluck meal for volunteers will be held afterwards, so participants
are welcome to bring food to share. For additional information, contact
Doubletree Stables at 927-5457 or 920-1420.
