Authorities Seek Public Help in Identifying Body
Posted 30 July 2008
Law enforcement officials are requesting the public's assistance in identifying a body that has been found floating in the Mississippi River south of Guttenberg.

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was notified of the discovery after a boater called 9-1-1 shortly after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, July 28. The boater was able to secure the body and bring it to shore at Camp Hideaway.

The body is described as a white male between 40 and 55 years old with a medium build and some facial hair. The person was wearing prescription glasses, a gold necklace, cut-off blue jean shorts and a brown leather belt.

The body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

Anyone with information regarding the possible identification of this person should contact the Clayton County Sheriff's Department at 563-245-2422 or the TIP LINE at 563-245-1234.

Guttenberg Fire and Police Departments assisted with the recovery, as well as searching the shoreline. The Sheriff's Department will be assisted in this investigation by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations and the Iowa DNR.
