Authorities Seek Public Help in Identifying Body

Law enforcement officials are
requesting the public's assistance in identifying a body that has been
found floating in the Mississippi River south of Guttenberg.
The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was notified of the discovery after
a boater called 9-1-1 shortly after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, July 28.
The boater was able to secure the body and bring it to shore at Camp
Hideaway.
The body is described as a white male between 40 and 55 years old with
a medium build and some facial hair. The person was wearing
prescription glasses, a gold necklace, cut-off blue jean shorts and a
brown leather belt.
The body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in
Ankeny for an autopsy.
Anyone with information regarding the possible identification of this
person should contact the Clayton County Sheriff's Department at
563-245-2422 or the TIP LINE at 563-245-1234.
Guttenberg Fire and Police Departments assisted with the recovery, as
well as searching the shoreline. The Sheriff's Department will be
assisted in this investigation by the Iowa Department of Criminal
Investigations and the Iowa DNR.
