Gaming Grant Applications Available
Posted 28 July 2008
Upper Mississippi Gaming
Corporation (UMGC) announces the deadline for the fall round of grant
applications will be Friday, Aug. 29. All applications to be considered
for this round of funding must be received in the UMGC office by 5 p.m.
that day.
Please allow adequate time when mailing. Applications not received by
the deadline will be disqualified. Please mail applications to Upper
Mississippi Gaming Corporation, PO Box 208, McGregor, IA 52157 or drop
them at the UMGC office at 1118 West Main Street McGregor, IA 52157.
Grants are available from money generated from an admission tax paid by
the Isle of Capri Casino in Marquette. This money is disbursed monthly
to UMGC, who is the non-profit license holder for the Isle of Capri in
Marquette. These funds are then awarded twice a year to qualifying tax
exempt organizations and groups working in conjunction with schools or
government entities in Clayton County.
Organizations from the area surrounding Clayton County that can show a
benefit to the residents of Clayton County with the programs or
projects they are proposing will also be considered for funding.
These projects or programs should encourage economic development,
community betterment, improved cultural and recreational activity
facilities, programs or activities that foster enhanced educational
experiences for local youth, or improve the overall quality of life for
residents of Clayton County.
The board encourages groups to expand their visions and to not shy away
from submitting an application. UMGC has funded a wide variety of
proposals in the past, and are always looking for new applicants with
great ideas for the future of Clayton County.
The decision on who will receive funding will be made on Monday, Sept.
22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the UMGC office at 1118 West Main Street in
McGregor. Applicants are welcome to attend, however attendance is not a
requirement of receiving an award.
Due to space limitations, applicants planning to attend should limit
the number of people being sent from any one group. Applications are
available on-line at www.umgc.org or you may request one be mailed to
you by calling the office at 563-873-2102 and leaving a message.
